About the Nurse Practitioner Education Incentive (NPEI)
Nova Scotia Health is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) who are committed to become a Nurse Practitioner and support a designated geographic area in the province. The NPEI is designed to help support RNs to obtain advanced education as Nurse Practitioners (NPs). Graduates of this educational opportunity will work in primary health care practice, in areas of the province that have demonstrated difficulty with recruitment and retention of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in primary care provided in-office and/or virtually.
Successful candidates must be employees of NSH or be willing to become employees. As a successful candidate, you will receive full-time RN salary, up to RN-2, year 5 salary classification, during the time you are a student and completing classroom and clinical requirements on a full-time basis. During summer break, you will be expected to return to your former RN role and work regular hours.
Successful candidates must commence work as a full-time NP in a specified geographical area within four months of completing an accredited Master of Nursing: Nurse Practitioner program and agree to a return-of-service (ROS) based on 2.5 years for every year of full-time salary reimbursement.

Process
1. Complete NSH’s NPEI opportunity application in Success Factors, including resume and cover letter.
2. Applicants selected for consideration will be required to submit proof of full-time enrollment into the accredited Master of Nursing: Nurse Practitioner and participate in an interview with NSH.
3. Successful candidates for the NPEI will be notified as soon as possible.
Terms
Following completion of the program, successful applicants must agree to sign a return-of-service agreement to work as an NSNU Nurse Practitioner with Primary Health Care at NSH and agree to a return-of-service (ROS) based on 2.5 years for every year of full-time salary reimbursement.
