About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Provincial Director of Emergency Preparedness, the Manager, Emergency Preparedness, is accountable for developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating the Nova Scotia Health Emergency Preparedness Program. This role will engage leaders, physicians and staff to foster participation in a comprehensive emergency preparedness program.
As a member of the Nova Scotia Health Emergency Preparedness team, the Manager, Emergency Preparedness is accountable for the development, implementation and evaluation of the following functions within their assigned portfolio: Emergency Preparedness and Response Program, Duty Officer/Management On-Call system, Incident Management System, Risk Assessment/Training/ Awareness, Business Continuity, and Pandemic Planning.
This role is currently being filled to support operational needs for the Northern Zone and will have the opportunity to support broader provincial initiatives.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
• Post-secondary degree in relevant area or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Continuing education in emergency planning, preparedness and response programs
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of related leadership experience, with a minimum of three years of progressive management responsibility
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM); commitment to complete the designation within a specified time from the hire date
• Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation and decision-skills
• Knowledge of health care organizations and the health sector
• Experience as a strategic advisor and operational leader within a complex organization, enabling change
• Experience with planning, developing and conducting risk assessments related to all hazards
• Experience with planning, developing, directing, implementing, testing and evaluating the emergency response plans with the Zone
• Experience with planning, developing, coordinating and delivering emergency preparedness education and awareness programs
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and interact with others
• High level of competence in both written and verbal communication
• Sound knowledge of information systems and financial management
• Travel to other sites is required, and must have access to a reliable vehicle
• Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

• Permanent full-time position; 75 hrs. bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Scale Type: Management
Band: 06
Hourly Rate: $53.59 - $65.65
Annual Salary: $104,500.50 - $128,017.50
