About the Opportunity

Reporting to the health services manager at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital (TOMH), the Occupational Therapist provides general Occupational Therapy services to the Tri-Facilities area of the Central Zone of Nova Scotia Health. The Occupational Therapist is based at Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital (MVMH) in Middle Musquodoboit, supports clients in their homes as part of Continuing Care from Fall River through the Musquodoboit Valley to the border with Guysborough County, and provides inpatient and long-term care services at MVMH and Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital (ESMH) in Sheet Harbor. The Occupational Therapist collaborates with another Occupational Therapist who is based at TOMH and covers the Eastern Shore. The Occupational Therapist works with rehab assistants based at each facility, represents Occupational Therapy on multidisciplinary teams there, and facilitates client access to specialty services within Central Zone. The Occupational Therapist is a participating member of the Community Occupational Therapy/ Physiotherapy group based at the Central Zone Continuing Care Office, which supports the Occupational Therapist for all community-based client care, and the Occupational Therapist works closely with physiotherapists from the group. The Occupational Therapist works with clients with all diagnoses, and the position provides a unique opportunity to follow people throughout the continuum of care in a rural setting.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

•    Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
•    Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
•    BLS-C required
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers and staff required
•    Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising required
•    Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
•    Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings, traveling within geographical area as necessary.
•    Access to reliable transportation required
•    Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long Assignment Full-Time (100%) position, 75 Hours Bi-Weekly
  • Beginning as soon as possible, with an expected end date of March 25, 2025

Compensation and Incentives

$33.97 - $42.89 Hourly
