About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Health Services Manager and the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT), the Occupational Therapy Assistant completes therapeutic and technical support duties in the delivery of occupational therapy services to clients of the Tier3 Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions clinic both independently and collaboratively with health care team members and students. The Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible to adhere to Nova Scotia Health Authority policies and procedures. The majority of the work takes place in the community (client homes), in addition to some time on the inpatient psychiatric unit, and within the outpatient clinic/office.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduated from a recognized community college occupational assistant program including 300 hours minimum of clinical experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • WHMIS 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the uses and sources of commercially available assistive devices and equipment
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment
  • Access to reliable transportation -  travel within the Southwest District is required (Digby, Bear River, Clare, Yarmouth, Shelburne)

Hours

  • Short assignment, full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Assignment is approximately 6 months in length

Compensation and Benefits

$24.11 - $27.40 Hourly
