About the Opportunity

Adult Outpatient Mental Health & Addictions requires a Registered Nurse to function as a Community Mental Health Nurse (CMHN)/Case Manager. Reporting to the Manager of Adult Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions

  • Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical Community Mental Health & Addictions Nursing services to specified outpatients
  • Nurse provides Services to the Long Acting Injection Clinic
  • Provides mental health assessment, supportive counseling to adult clients, medication education and disposition planning
  • Provides group interventions to designated patients of Mental Health and Addiction Services
  • Provides community-based case management and counseling services to adult clients
  • Facilitates case disposition
  • Liaises with local inpatient, outpatient and community-based services and agencies as well as with inpatient withdrawal management and mental health units
  • Provides education about mental health disorders and treatments to clients, families and community groups
  • Works closely with primary care physicians and staff
  • Uses Telehealth and other technologies as required to improve access to services and participates in the planning, development and evaluation of local mental health and addiction services

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree Nursing
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the NSCN
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in a Mental Health /Addiction Services setting in the last five years
  • Basic competencies in relation to identifying and addressing concurrent mental health and substance use disorders
  • Experience in crisis and suicide risk assessment and intervention
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge and experience accessing community resources in a rural setting
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective linkages with other health, social service and  community agencies, particularly primary care
  • Willing to participate in clinical training activities (Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery, Suicide Risk, non-violent CPI, Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing)
  • Demonstrated use of innovative problem solving and application of evidence based practice to patient services
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

 

If there are no applicants with Three (3) years’ experience, applicants with two (2) Years mental health and addictions experience may be evaluated.

If there are no applicants with two years’ experience, applicants with one (1) year mental health and addictions experience may be evaluated.

  • Long Assignment, Full-Time; 75 hours Bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$41.58-$51.11 hourly

($52.90 hourly with 25 years of RN experience)
