About the Opportunity
NS Health provides sustainable safe and high-quality health services that are accessible, people-centred, promote health and wellness and optimize the health of all Nova Scotians. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community-based programs and services including Continuing Care, Primary Health Care, Public Health and Mental Health and Addictions.
The Operations Manager ensures that the principles and practices that guide NS Health, IWK and Department of Health and Wellness (DHW) such as mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.
The Manager, WZ Operations, will provide collaborative leadership in managing the physical, financial and human resources consistent with the mission, strategic plan, goals and objectives of NS Health. The Operations Manager will liaise effectively with leadership and interprofessional teams, to ensure the efficient and effective operations of the program and high-quality, accessible patient care services.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Master’s Degree in a recognized mental health and/or addiction health discipline or related field with five (5) years’ experience in a mental health and addictions system preferred; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a recognized mental health and addiction discipline, with five (5) years’ experience in mental health or addictions, one of which should be in professional practice/leadership capacity and two (2) additional years’ experience in clinical practice for a total of seven (7) years’ experience
- Registered/eligible for registration and a member in good standing of the relevant regulatory body.
- Member of the Canadian College of Health Leadership with CHE designation or equivalent is an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in working in the mental health and addictions field.
- Formal leadership experience in the health care field, MHA experience preferred.
- Management skills demonstrated through planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluating.
- Able to manage human resources, financial resources, capital/material assets and information.
- Clinical knowledge and ability to use sound professional judgment and initiative.
- Able to report on indicators (i.e., financial, human resource, clinical, client/family satisfaction).
- The ability to understand and apply the principles of knowledge exchange and change management to support change within the service.

Hours
- Permanent Full Time position; 75 Hours bi weekly
- Must have access to reliable transportation
- Regular travel to satellite clinics; between sites within the Zone’s geographical area and to meetings outside the Zone as required; working flexible hours and dealing with stressful situations
Compensation and Incentives
$43.90 - $58.33 Hourly
