About the Opportunity
Reporting to a member of the Communications and Marketing management team, the Senior Communications Advisor collaborates with groups throughout the organization to provide communications and engagement advice to advance relationships with NS Health staff, physicians and patients. Working closely with their colleagues, the position works to plan, implement, and evaluate communication and engagement activities that build and strengthen the organizations response to issues, challenges and opportunities that bridge the gap between Nova Scotia Health and its patients, staff, physicians, medical learners, volunteers, system partners and interest holders.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in the communications and public relations sector.
- Knowledge of best practice related to communications, public relations, engagement, media relations, crisis communications and online engagement.
- System-focused thinking with strong analysis and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to support internal and external collaborative relationships; ability to work effectively within cross-departmental teams.
- Experience with high-profile public relations issues and in reputation management.
- Interest and ability to work within social media; ability to use current technology to communicate effectively.
- Ability to manage projects, delivering on budget and on time.
- Assets include:
- Knowledge of IAP2 principles and practices
- Knowledge of change theory and change management practices
- Experience in the health sector
- Exceptional skills in preparing web, social media, and online engagement strategies with demonstrated success in developing effective content and engaging audiences.
- Demonstrated success in desktop publishing and basic layout design.

Hours
- Long Assignment, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Beginning January, 2025 for approximately 12 months

Compensation and Benefits
$40.15 - $50.19 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
