About the Opportunity

Are you interested in a career in Critical Care Nursing? We are seeking nurses interested in receiving specialty training and a permanent position to work in Critical Care Nursing at Nova Scotia Health! We have vacancies in a variety of Critical Care Departments across Nova Scotia Health and look forward to discussing this opportunity with you.

The Critical Care Nursing Program (CCNP) prepares Registered Nurses for professional practice in critical care environments. This performance-based program supports RNs to advance their clinical judgement, critical thinking, and clinical leadership to work collaboratively with the interprofessional team. Whether you are a new graduate, new hire, or have experience in acute care, this program prepares you to care for patients with low to high acuity emergencies. Programs options include full time (12 weeks) and part time (6 months) aimed at ensuring the nurse achieves the knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet the program competencies. The program will be aligned with a transition to practice approach, with blended clinical and study time, that will support the nurse in transferring program competencies into their Critical Care Nursing practice. Employees accepted into the program will also be scheduled for regular periods of orientation in the critical care environment with the purpose of providing further support in transitioning to this specialized area. Information related to the program can be accessed here: Overview of Critical Care Nursing Program at the Learning Institute

Successful applicants will agree to complete the program and continue working for a minimum of twelve (12) months as a Registered Nurse in the assigned unit and will be required to sign a one (1) year Return of Service Agreement.
