Physiotherapist - Seniors Care

About the Opportunity

The Physiotherapist works under the supervision of the Manager of Seniors Western Zone and is a member of the interdisciplinary Seniors Care Team providing service primarily in the emergency department and community setting.  The Physiotherapist participates in the planning, development and provision of physiotherapy services to support seniors and enhance their independence and function at home. The Physiotherapist works to their full scope of practice as an independent practitioner within the team. The Physiotherapist provides collaborative, client centered care across the continuum, supporting the physical well-being of all individuals (includes patients, families, groups, populations and communities). This position includes considerable collaboration within the team and with community partners. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The PT may also contribute to the clinical education of Physiotherapy students and related health disciplines. The Physiotherapist is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body, the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
• Membership with the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator (Provincial licensing body)
• Experience in Geriatric Care preferred
• Computer skills (statistics input, word processing, Outlook)
• Physiotherapy is a diverse profession requiring additional courses/education/training in many specialized areas or practice, e.g., cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
• Strong counselling and communication skills
• Capacity to achieve a high degree of autonomous practice
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team context
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

• Long assignment, full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
• Approximately a 12-month assignment

Compensation and Benefits

$38.43 - $50.98 hourly
