About Our Nurse Practitioners

Come for a short time or stay for a while! We are recruiting Nurse Practitioners to be a part of our growing collaborative practice team, serving Yarmouth and surrounding communities. 

 

There is flexibility in your schedule and how you build your practice in a number of areas including minor procedures (i.e., Excisions, IUD insertion/removal, cryotherapy), prenatal and well-baby care, palliative care, long term care, chronic disease management to name a few. We also offer mentoring and educational opportunities to support providers new to work in rural settings. 

About the Opportunity

The Locum Program is focused on specific assignment opportunities for short term periods to address high staffing needs in the Emergency Department at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

 

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive and coordinated care to patients as a member of an interprofessional/collaborative health care team. The NP partners with and complements other members of the health care team for the achievement of person and family centred care, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and evaluation of patient health and treatment outcomes, screening and health promotion, early detection of illness and disease, chronic disease management, continuity and coordination of care and enhanced access to programs, services and community resources.
 

 

The health team works together to develop and deliver services to the entire population in the community cluster, including outreach to remote areas and services to meet the needs of priority populations. This position requires work at multiple sites and travel between various community locations throughout the area.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


•Masters of Nursing – Advanced Nursing Practice stream or equivalent nurse practitioner program
•Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner – Family/ All Ages, and in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) or eligible
•Recent experience working in a Nurse Practitioner role with family of all ages preferred
•Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to reliable vehicle
•Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred, and ability to work with language agency to deliver care to patients in other languages is considered an asset

Hours

  • Short assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Assignment duration from one (1) month to six (6) months
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays

Compensation & Incentives

$53.08 - $62.22 hourly
$64.22 with 25 years' of NP experience

 

Incentives are available to successful applicants residing outside the Western Zone of Nova Scotia Health and willing to relocate. Candidates who are currently employed within the Western zone must have capacity to accept temporary assignments that do not result in operational disruptions or result in the payment of overtime for regular shift assignments. 

 

Successful candidates of the locum project will be eligible to receive a Completion Bonus of $1000 after completion of 162.5 hours worked. There is a one (1) month minimum with commitment determined upon hire. Successful candidates will also be eligible to receive reimbursement for mileage or airfare as appropriate, as well as for reasonable accommodation.
