About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, the Health Services Manager Women’s & Children’s will be responsible for the Women and Children’s Health Unit, including the pre & post-natal clinic, Ambulatory Care, Acute Care 2B, and is responsible for strategic and operational leadership of the specific clinical portfolio in accordance with the Nova Scotia Health (NSH) mission, vision, and values. The Manager provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all initiatives at the program level. The Manager has 24-hour accountability in the management of all program activities. The Manager is also responsible for planning of strategic integration of service delivery in collaboration with colleagues in the Community Health portfolio. Using a collaborative, consultative and quality driven approach, the Manager facilitates the continuous evaluation and improvement of care.  The Manager promotes a person-centered approach by consulting with all stakeholders in the provision of services and develops community and acute care partnerships.  

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline; nursing preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in a position included in this portfolio.
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management within a unionized environment.
  • Experience developing and facilitating strategies consistent with the principles of Organizational Health.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in program planning, financial and human resource management, oral and written communication and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to successfully change, adapt, overcome, and cope with unexpected challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners across the healthcare continuum.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee and self-development and continuous quality improvement.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, internet, email, and the ability to utilize health information systems for decision support.
  • Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as managing multiple priorities, time-sensitive deadlines, stressful situations, working flexible/extended hours and travelling within and outside NSHA as necessary.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent, Full-Time; 75 Hours Bi-weekly 

Compensation and Benefits

$45.45 - $60.39 Hourly
