About the Opportunity

The Manager, Continuing Care Intake, reports to the Western Zone Director of Continuing Care and is responsible for the operation of an efficient, customer focused, and innovative Continuing Care Intake service.  The incumbent will be responsible to consult on, implement and support the system-wide vision for Continuing Care Intake set forth by the NSH Continuing Care Leadership team.

The Manager will be committed to a high standard of performance and customer service; is accountable to foster an environment of learning, respect and accountability through personal leadership, coaching and annual performance reviews with all direct reports resulting in a sustainable healthy workplace;  lead and direct the operations of the Continuing Care Intake service in alignment with the priorities of NSHA and provincial legislation, priorities, policies and standards; foster a collaborative approach to internal and external relationships with stakeholders, partners and service providers across the province in order to meet the continuing care health needs of Nova Scotians; and is accountable to manage within allocated budgets.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a healthcare field and a minimum of five (5) years recent and related leadership/management experience is required
  • Must be currently registered with regulatory body, if applicable
  • Progressive experience in management and administration in a health care/ community setting, including financial and human resource management.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a healthcare environment
  • In depth knowledge of Continuing Care programs, practice including the mandate and functions in Nova Scotia.
  • Experience in managing in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service principles and client intake systems
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and clients
  • Strong human resource management, financial management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Evidence of commitment to a healthy workplace and the use of best practices in building/sustaining staff competencies, ensuring good communication and involvement of staff and clients/residents in decisions which affect them
  • Evidence of the ability to understand and apply the principles of knowledge exchange and change management to support change within the service
  • Demonstrated planning, organization and time management skills. Ability to deal with competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations including the NS Health Authorities Act, Homes for Special Care Act, Homemakers Services Act, etc.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies and standards including the DHW continuing care policies and standards, guidelines, etc. and NSH policies and procedures.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Full Time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • This is a provincial position; location is flexible anywhere in the province

Compensation and Benefits

$43.80 - $58.19 hourly
