About the Opportunity
The Manager works with the Administrative Director and the PLM Medical Department Lead for the Zone, to facilitate the daily administrative and clinical operations of the Department and to ensure the delivery of a high quality, safe Pathology and Laboratory Medicine service.
The Manager is accountable for the effective and efficient operation of assigned areas of responsibility. The Manager works collaboratively with other Zone Lab Managers, as well as the designated Service Lead / Pathologist Lead for assigned areas / facilities. The Manager participates in the development of site / service strategies and is accountable to the Administrative Director for effective and continuous improvement within the service. The manager is responsible for coordinating and collaborating alongside managers and site leads of rural hospitals, as well as handling any tasks delegated by the Administrative Director that fall within managerial scope.
Duties are performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies and Procedures of the NSHA, which is committed to patient safety, continued quality improvement, and advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health services.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of an approved undergraduate program in Medical Laboratory Technology, supplemented by additional formal management and / or leadership training.
- Certified with CSMLS as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
- Licensed by Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Laboratory Sciences (NSRMLS)
- Equivalent combinations of experience and/or alternative education shall be considered
- 3-5 years of relevant supervisory / management experience demonstrating progressive accountabilities for financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality services
- Leadership, organizational and decision skills in support of patient, family and client centred laboratory services.
- Knowledge in field of practice to help inform strategy development and organizational planning.
- Strategic planning and systems thinking.
- Experience and competence in financial planning, monitoring and management.
- Evidence-based collaborative problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills for complex multifaceted issues.
- Well-developed organizational, networking, negotiation and change management skills
- Understanding of the principles of project management with demonstrated ability to lead work teams.

- Permanent full time position; 75 hours biweekly
Compensation and Benefits
$46.36- $61.60 Hourly
