About the Opportunity


The Injury Prevention Consultant works with departments and clinical teams within Nova Scotia Health to identify areas of risk related to injuries and to implement and evaluate programs to reduce employee injuries. The Injury Prevention Consultant is a champion for injury prevention and safe patient handling within Nova Scotia Health. They are responsible for providing expert services and to act as a resource to assist in assessment and identification of department/unit/staff needs based on evaluation. This may include Job Demands Analyses that may be used to support decision making in fitness for duty, Stay-at-Work/Return-to-Work and accommodation planning. Utilizing outstanding communication skills, the Injury Prevention Consultant supports a culture of safety by providing direction with respect to integrating injury prevention and safe patient handling and mobility into our daily operations.

 

About You


We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
  • Additional training/certification in areas of safety is an asset including Falls Prevention, Pressure Ulcer Prevention, Disability Management and Psychological Health and Safety.
  • Member in good standing in the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists or the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia and Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a physical medicine or physical rehabilitation environment
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of current practice, workflow and issues.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Effective Conflict Competency Skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

 

  • Permanent Full-time position, 75 hours biweekly
  • Day shifts only
  • Travel to various sites will be required
  • Hybrid, Work from Home. Some shifts will be on site.

 

 

Compensation and Incentives


$35.27 - $44.09 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
