About the Opportunity
The Northern Zone, Nova Scotia Health People Services, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) team is excited to be expanding. Reporting to the Director, Northern Zone, People Services and working closely with the Senior Human Resources Business Partner and Zone Employee and Labour Relations Manager, the HRBP provides strategic human resources leadership and consultation to an assigned group of senior leaders and managers within their respective zone.
About You
This position requires a high-level competency communicator who is solution focused and builds strong relationships within the assigned client groups, works collaboratively and leverages relationships with subject matter experts across the zone and NSH.
As a change agent and business partner the HRBP is committed to understanding the business and needs of clients. As a change agent and business partner the HRBP will research and deliver innovative human resources solutions that are aligned with the client’s business objectives and consistent with relevant policies, collective agreement language, legislation and the vision, mission, values and culture of NSH. Collaborating with various partners on the People Services team is integral to the support of the human resources service delivery model. HRBPs make recommendations for action plans to address issues that effectively use and integrate the services provided by People Services in order to support and enhance client team functioning.
The HRBP is able to provide appropriate coaching, support and guidance to managers to assist them in the effective, efficient and sustainable delivery of their programs and services. This includes but is not limited to: managing employee performance; supporting team functioning; discipline; grievances; workforce planning; layoffs and terminations; investigations; policy development, interpretation and implementation; leadership development and special projects that support a business area or client. Consultation with external legal services (Health Association Nova Scotia – HANS) may be required on legal issues or initiatives.
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of post-secondary degree/program in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience providing human resource services within a complex unionized environment with multiple unions and/or collective agreements.
- Knowledge of all aspects of human resources, preferably within the health sector
- Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of labour trends and legislation
- Experience in mediation and conflict resolution
- Experience interpreting collective agreements and policies
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision making skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships
- High level of competence in both written and verbal communication.
- Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
- Excellent consultative, influencing and coaching skills.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Shifts are scheduled Monday to Friday
- Travel to various sites required.
- Position participates in hybrid model.
- Location will be anywhere in Northern Zone, dependent on the successful candidate
Compensation and Benefits
$40.15 - $50.19 Hourly
