About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager - Space Planning, the Space Planner (Eastern Zone) will provide input into strategic space planning from the various sites within the appropriate zone of the NSHA through the generation of space reports, studies and analysis, including space audits.

Demonstrating leadership behaviours and capabilities, consistent with LEADS in a Caring Environment framework, which include Leads Self, Engages Others, Develops Coalitions, Achieves Results and Transforms Systems, this position will be responsible for providing accurate zone-wide space use and allocation information for reporting and planning purposes - including a space inventory, and base building drawings. In consultation with the Manager - Space Planning (and Manager - Real Estate where leased space is impacted), the Space Planner will work with zone-specific clinical and community health service staff and leadership and the zone space committee to identify and evaluate space needs, conduct space audits and utilization studies, and provide feasibility options for consideration and prioritization of changes to space allocation and use. The position also provides guidance based on provincial space guidelines and policies to individuals, service groups and space committees.

About You

  • Completion of post secondary education in architecture, architectural/CAD technology or interior design with demonstrated significant experience in space planning (equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered)
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years' of relevant experience in space planning, including balancing multiple stakeholder needs and competing priorities
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of applicable national (Canada) and provincial (NS) buildings codes and regulations
  • Experience in space planning within a health care context is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of complex workplace strategies and planning solutions for a large and diverse customer base
  • Experience and knowledge of leading practice planning approaches, including innovative and alternative means of aligning requirements for customer program delivery requirements
  • Knowledge of multiple current-industry furniture lines, including systems furniture
  • Cross-sector awareness and knowledge of the unique special purpose drivers of solution effectiveness in defining programs and solutions for special purpose assets
  • Knowledge of space management specific software (i.e. ARCHIBUS) is an asset
  • Strong analytical, process and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional communications skills; oral and written
  • Leadership experience within a professional planning service environment
  • Quality improvement methodologies
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Solid client service acumen and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Travel will be required

Hours

  •  Permanent, Full-Time / 100% / 75 Hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$38.36 - $47.95 hourly
