Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, The Radiological Technologist (RT) is responsible for the delivery of patient centered care while operating radiological/accessory equipment with minimal supervision, while exercising independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative. The RT performs a variety of diagnostic or therapeutic procedures requiring the use of ionizing radiation, applying the ALARA principle, while continuously remaining responsive to and responsible for each patient in their care. The RT is responsible for effective communication in a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary environment while fostering a culture of safety in the workplace.

Qualifications

• 2 Year Diploma in Radiological Technology or 4 year Degree in Radiological Technology
• Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Certification
• Nova Scotia Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (NSCMRITP) Certification
• Previous experience is an asset
• Qualification to work in more than one Diagnostic Imaging modality is an asset
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
• Basic Life Support Certification
• Ability to use time effectively by organizing and prioritizing duties, while working under minimal supervision
• Possess the physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Demonstrates initiative, organizational and prioritizing skills; and works collaboratively within inter-professional teams
• Comprehension of the technical language in order to be able to review and use manuals and take part in relevant discussions
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
