About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Director of Acute Health Services the Director, Perioperative is responsible for operational planning, management and leadership of surgical services to ensure care is integrated and 
reflects best practice evidenced based care. This includes working within the co-leadership model with clinical lead for surgical services to ensure the services/programs meets its clinical, research, and teaching mandates and it complies with established standards of care.

 

The Director has shared accountability in setting priorities and implementing strategies that improve person centred perioperative services across the continuum of care. The Director and Physician Co-Leader ensures that programs, services, and units are developed, operated and evaluated while maintaining efficient and effective resource utilization, 
patient/family satisfaction, and quality patient care that meets established standards and public expectations. 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Masters degree in Health Administration or Business an asset
  • Bachelor Degree in a Health Related Discipline required
  • Eligible for registration in a health care discipline in Nova Scotia;CHE Designation an asset
  •  7 years of relevant senior leadership experience with progressive accountabilities for management, financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality services within Nova Scotia Health required.
  • Experience working in perioperative and familiar with supply chain management services. 
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, decision making negotiating, communication, conceptualization & evaluation. 
  • Specific experience with strategic and operational planning and implementation and related management functions. 
  • Demonstrated track record of success in general management involving significant departmental responsibilities.
  • Strong focus on quality improvement and development of Balanced Score cards and performance metrics.
  • Strong understanding of Accreditation Standards for Perioperative and MDR.
  • Familiar with CSA standards for MDR.
  • Experienced in management/leadership activities involving organizational change, strategic planning, human resource administration, and financial planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective change agent using interpersonal, communication and team building skills.
  • Proven relationship building skills. 
  • Mature with strong interpersonal skills – able to handle self professionally in meetings with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven experience building high performing teams. 
  • Demonstrated organizational and priority setting skills.
  • System Thinker.
  • Critical thinking and Analytical Skills.
  • Continuous Quality Improvement and Risk Management skills.
  • Team Building and conflict management skills.

Hours

  • Permanent, full-time position, 75 hour biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$59.50 - $79.06 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
