About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Engineering, the Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, and performance verification of a wide range of clinical and facility-based equipment used throughout healthcare environments.
Working both independently and collaboratively with clinical staff, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders, the Equipment Maintenance Technician provides technical expertise, supports equipment evaluations and commissioning activities, and helps ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and available for patient care.
This position provides service coverage to multiple healthcare facilities and requires regular travel between sites. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade 12
- Successful completion of a two-year Electronic Engineering Technology program or equivalent post-secondary technical program.
- Electronic Certification, Industrial Mechanic Certification, Industrial Electrical Certification, or equivalent trade certification considered an asset.
- Minimum two years' related experience in equipment maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and installation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and related electromechanical systems.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, maintain, upgrade, and install a wide variety of equipment, including sterilization and reprocessing equipment, operating room equipment, patient beds, medical gas systems, water purification systems, patient lifts, and other related systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and make sound technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with staff, contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, and working in confined or awkward spaces.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred.

Hours
- Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Travel to other sites required. Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
Compensation and Benefits
$33.81 - $34.92 Hourly
