Responsibilities

Reporting to the site leadership, the Registered Nurse works as part of an interdisciplinary team and is responsible for providing care to a diverse patient population in a rural hospital setting. He/she will have patient experiences across the spectrum of all acute and emergency care. The successful applicant must contribute to creating a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff and others.

 

The Registered Nurse practices within the Nova Scotia College of Nursing, NSCN Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics. The RN will demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice and demonstrate ongoing commitment to maintaining appropriate clinical competencies required through educational sessions with clinical nurse educator, self- directed study, simulation, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Registered or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • BLS-C (Basic Life Support – C)
  • Required or must obtain within 1- 2  years of hire (depending on course availability and  operational requirements) :
    • CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale)
  • Previous acute care experience an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other health care provide and staff while demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth
  • Ability to demonstrate sound decision-making skills in crisis situations and be accountable for decisions
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
  • Basic computer skills
  • Physical and mental capabilities to perform duties of the position
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

  • Part Time 40%, Long Assignment;  30 hours bi-weekly
  • Commencing as soon as possible, for approximately 9 months
  • Dates are approximate and subject to change
  • Shifts may include days, nights, weekends and holidays

 

Salary Information

$35.21 - $41.48 hourly
$42.94 hourly with 25 years of RN experience
