Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Outpatient Services, the Clinical Therapist, Adult Outpatient Services, is primarily responsible for the provision of individual and group therapy services to adult clients (age 19 and over) with mental health and addictions issues within a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a Mental Health discipline required – Psychology preferred (MS Psych), others considered with specific Mental Health & Addictions experience (MSW, Masters in Occupational Therapy, Clinical Nurse Specialist (MN) or  Masters in Counseling (MCT) registered with NSACT will be considered
  • Registration with the appropriate provincial professional licensing body required
  • Two years’ experience in the provision of individual, family, and group therapy programs to adult clients in an outpatient mental health & addictions setting is preferred
  • Two years of related clinical experience in a health care setting required (New Grads and applicants with less than the two years of clinical experience may be considered for a lower classification)
  • DBT skills and training and any experience working with transgendered individuals considered an asset
  • Experience in the delivery of Brief Solution Focused therapy required
  • Strong clinical skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy required
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team required
  • Nonviolent crisis intervention required (or willingness to be trained upon hiring)
  • Experience with the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical programs is an asset
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure client focused care across services and providers
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Candidates with previous experience in crisis work and/or advanced training in Suicide Risk Assessment will be given preference
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Salary Information

Clinical Therapist:

$36.05 - $47.38 hourly
