About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Director the Health Services Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to multi-disciplinary teams within a patient-centred, Collaborative Practice Model for patient care units within Nova Scotia Health (Western Zone) consisting of Inpatient Services – Soldiers Memorial Hospital (Transitional Care Unit, Alternate Level of Care, Veteran's Unit).

Working collaboratively and consultatively with patients/clients, families, management, staff, physicians, community partners, and service providers, the Manager applies strategic and analytical thinking to address challenges to achieve the ultimate goal of high quality, safe and cost effective services to better support patient experience/outcome. 

The Manager exhibits sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework and objectives of the Health Services Programs and the Mission and Vision and Strategic Directions of NSH, and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of NSH.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent health related degree.
  • Current registration with the NSCN or equivalent health related regulatory body.
  • Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in a position included in this portfolio.
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all the services included in this portfolio.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of the various professional scopes of practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare structures, environments and services.
  • Sound knowledge of programming related to the target population.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, motivation, team building, conflict resolution and change management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage human resources/intellectual capital, financial resources, capital/material assets and information.
  • Demonstrated abilities related to staff and program development and evaluation.

Hours

  • Permanent Full Time (1.0% FTE), 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$45.45 - $60.39 Hourly
