About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Provincial Manager of Disability Management within Occupational Health Safety and Wellness, the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Specialist is responsible for providing case services to noncomplex and complex WCB claims.  The WCB Specialist acts as a liaison between the employer, treatment providers and the Workers Compensation Board.  They review accident report information and when required co-ordinate referral of employees to external treatment providers, complete electronic WCB employer injury reports and provide case management and return to work coordination of all workplace injury and illness claims. 
 
Claims can range from noncomplex to complex which are defined as those in which environmental concerns, workplace conflict or mental health illness identified in the injury report, a history of WCB claims with time lost beyond two weeks and any WCB claim resulting in time lost beyond 12 weeks or the need for WCB tiered services.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Post-secondary degree in a health related field (Nursing, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology or Occupational therapy preferred)
  • Completion of an appropriate and/or working towards credentials in the fields of Disability Management, Occupational Health & Safety and or Adult Education
  • Current membership in good standing with relevant professional body or eligibility for certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Professional 
  • Minimum of three years related experience working within progressive management responsibility
  • Experience working in WCB claim management from clinic/ board/ emplooyer settings would be an asset
  • Previous experience in the development and implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System in a large complex organization a definite asset 
  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset
  • Knowledge and demonstrated competence in all disciplines of OH&S legislation and applicable Acts, Codes, Regulations and industry best practices 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, etc.)
  • Demonstrated computer skills - familiar with database, presentation, word processing, and statistical analysis software
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships
  • Research analytical and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare issues and case management trends/best practices
  • Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated presentation and adult education skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all staff of a complex organization

Compensation and Benefits

$35.98 - $44.97
$70,156 - $87,696
