The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.

About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Manager of Learning and Education Resources at the Learning Institute, the Simulation Specialist provides technical and educational support for Learning Institute programming (in collaboration with Interprofessional Educators and Instructors), and supports the preparation of the simulated learning environment, simulation technology and equipment and provides technical management of scenarios. The prime focus of the Simulation Specialist is to maintain the technical “readiness” of the simulation, information, and audio-visual technologies utilized in simulation learning educational activities, support planning and implementation of simulation educational activities, and act as a technical expert as part of the Learning Institute.

The Simulation Specialist demonstrates technical competency related to simulation, information, audio- visual and other technologies, knowledge of simulation practices, and has an understanding of health care settings, practice and health professions. The Simulation Specialist exhibits the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework. This framework is grounded in theories of adult and concept-based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care and collaborative learning and practice.

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:
 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience required
  • Two (2) years related job experience required
  • Certification in Simulation Specialist or Simulation Educator programs (i.e., CHSOS, CHSE, SLIIC) preferred
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting considered an asset
  • Ability to prioritize own work
  • Able to proactively keep abreast of new and emerging technologies
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to users
  • Adheres to standards for simulation program operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot IT/AV or Simulation Technology issues
  • Ability to lift more than 40lbs, i.e., patient simulators

Permanent, Full-Time (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation and Benefits

$32.32 - $39.23 hourly
$63,017 - $76,503 annually
