About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PIs) and under the direction of the Research Manager, the Research Coordinator (Registered Nurse) is responsible for the coordination of Maritime Heart Center (MHC) Research projects conducted within Research & Innovation, NS Health Central Zone. The MHC Research Group consists of approximately 25 staff who support clinical trials and research projects for Cardiologists, Vascular Surgeons, and Cardiac Surgeons, as well as fellows, residents, students and Affiliate Scientists. The Research Coordinator works within this collaborative Research Team environment with other Coordinators, Research Assistants, the Research Manager, and clinical care teams to ensure comprehensive participant care is being provided. The Research Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment and care of study participants (with respect to the study) under the direction of the PI, and in collaboration with the team, facilitates data collection, organization, and management of the overall study administration. The Research Coordinator (Registered Nurse) works closely with the Research Manager and is responsible for providing clinical leadership, guidance and support to the MHC Research Group. We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse-preferably with a background in Cardiology or Cardiovascular care-who has strong organizational skills, clinical leadership ability, and sound critical thinking to navigate the complexities of research within a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable with administrative responsibilities.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Degree or diploma in Nursing
- Current registration with NSCN
- Minimum of two years’ experience in Nursing (preferably at Nova Scotia Health)
- Knowledge and experience in Cardiology / Cardiovascular nursing an asset
- Experience in clinical research an asset
- CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
- Demonstrated competencies in computer skills, including databases
- Demonstrated clinical and assessment skills for a cardiac population related to the scope required for a particular study and patient population (i.e. CPR, cardiac monitoring, vital signs, physical, NYHA classification, performs phlebotomy, etc)
- Effective interpersonal, communication and teaching skills
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Effective research and analytical thinking skills
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and rapport-building skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Permanent, Full-Time; 75 Hours Bi-Weekly
Compensation and Benefits
$41.94 - $52.43 Hourly
