About the Opportunity

The Research Assistant contributes to a particular research study or division by assisting with study administration, by providing general administrative support and by maintaining study data. 

 

40% Study/Clinical Trial Administration
•    Completes Case Report Forms in conjunction with PI, Manager and/or Coordinator
•    Processes & submits forms to Research Ethics Board (REB)
•    Prepares specimens for shipment
•    Contacts study subjects to book diagnostic/clinical tests, assessments & appointments
•    Administers, scores & records results for study tests
•    Assists with subject screening by accessing patient charts


30% Administrative Support
•    Acts as point of contact by providing information/direction when answering, screening & referring inquiries
•    Replies to correspondence & composes/edits letters, documents, etc
•    Orders & maintains supplies
•    Attends, records & distributes minutes for meetings
•    Faxes, photocopies, books rooms, catering & meetings, etc
•    Coordinates incoming/outgoing mail & arranges for courier services
•    Processes invoices & financial payments
•    Acquires signatures for regulatory documents


25% Data management
•    Collects data related to study
•    Develops/maintains filing systems for subject & study documentation
•    Files study documents, test results, etc
•    Develops/maintains methods of tracking information through databases & spreadsheets
•    Enters, summarizes & analyses data using database/spreadsheets
•    Archives documentation related to study, develops/maintains method of retrieval from storage


5% Performs other related duties as required

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Completed or currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field required
  • Two years’ research related experience preferred
  • Medical Terminology course preferred
  • Knowledge of hematological disorders is an asset
  • CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
  • TCPS2: CORE Certification considered an asset
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification an asset
  • Experience in data collection and data entry is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
  • Proficiency with current NSHealth systems (STAR, PHS and/or LIS) an asset
  • Effective communication, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to draft, format and edit office correspondence
  • Well developed organizational, time management and daily planning skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Previous experience in a health care/research setting is an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long Assignment, Full-Time / 75 Hours Bi-Weekly 
  • July 2025 to July 2026, approximately 12 months

Compensation and Benefits

$22.78 - $28.48 Hourly
