About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Program Manager of the Bone and Joint department within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio, and under the supervision of therapists, the Rehabilitation Assistant, as an active member of the patient care team, works with individuals, families and groups to help educate and promote movement, occupation, and function. The Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for the safe and proficient delivery of activities that have been assigned by the therapists for patients coping with limitations in movement and daily function. They help enable clients to meet their expected outcomes by contributing to the implementation and to the modification of rehab programs and services. The Rehabilitation Assistant also checks and cleans equipment, maintains treatment and storage areas and may order necessary supplies. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care portfolio.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduation from a recognized Community College Rehabilitation Assistant program OR Completion of a recognized combined Occupational Therapy (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) College programs required
- Current BCLS certification
- Previous experience in orthopedics, inpatient, acute care considered an asset
- Previous experience leading adult group education and/or exercise considered as asset
- Previous experience in wheelchair modifications, splinting and/or custom fabrication considered an asset
- Ability to communicate well with both patients and their families and staff
- Good interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with team members
- Organizational ability to complete assigned work and manage changing staffing and caseload levels
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics
- Demonstrate basic computer skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Long assignment. part-time position; 67.5 hours biweekly
- Approximately 12 months (assignment length subject to change)
- Shifts will include weekends
Compensation and Benefits
$25.84 - $30.85 hourly
