About the Opportunity
The Rehabilitation Assistant works under the direction of the Manager, and supervision of the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist. The Rehabilitation Assistant works as an active member of the patient care team, with individuals, care partners and groups to help educate and promote movement, occupation, and function. Working collaboratively with their team, the Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for the safe and proficient delivery of activities, interventions, and education that have been assigned by the therapists for patients/clients experiencing limitations in movement and daily function. The Rehabilitation Assistant also checks and cleans equipment, maintains treatment and storage areas and may order necessary supplies.
The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduation from a recognized Community College Rehabilitation Assistant program OR Completion of a recognized combined Occupational Therapy (OTA) and Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) College programs required.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training or requirement to complete training within first three (3) months of employment.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology an asset.
- Experience working with varied patient populations considered an asset.
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics required.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to complete assigned work.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members, patients and their care partners.
- Previous experience with neurological conditions an asset.
- Previous experience working in inpatient acute care an asset.
- Previous experience with wheelchair fitting and modifications an asset.
- Competencies in other languages considered an asset, French preferred.

Hours
- Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Approximately a 12-month assignment
Compensation and Benefits
$24.11 - $27.40 Hourly
