About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Manager of Assistive Technology, and under the direction of an appropriate, certified Clinician, the Registered Orthotic Technician provides technical expertise towards evaluation, treatment planning, individualized design, custom fabrication, and maintenance of assistive devices, primarily orthoses, to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function. The Registered Technician works collaboratively with the inter-professional health care team to provide optimal care and to assist the patient in achieving their orthotic goals.

The Registered Technician works with patients directly and indirectly by contributing to the orthotic ongoing care. The Registered Technician works closely with the certified clinician to ensure the quality and integrity of orthoses provided to patients meet the physical and functional needs of the patients and their goals by ensuring the materials and components used are best evidence informed practice. Registered Technicians incorporate critical thinking, problem solving, and effective communication to deliver high quality care to patients.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Registration in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (annual renewal)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience (Technical Internship is considered experience)
  • The registered technician must have the ability to communicate well with patients, families and the health care team
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and have organizational skills to complete assigned work and manage changing caseloads
  • High level of manual dexterity, strong problem-solving abilities, computer skills
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements and understanding of infection control procedures
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

* Two (2) Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$29.81 - $36.54 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
 

Successful candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and up to $5,000 of relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
