About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Psychologist is a member of the interdisciplinary team providing services to adults and their families.   The incumbent will collaborate with other members of the team while providing assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy.  The ability to conduct both individual and group treatment is required. As well, the incumbent will be required to work collaboratively with family physicians and other service providers and community agencies in the context of providing care. The successful candidate will be required to participate in quality improvement initiatives including peer supervision processes for ongoing clinical development.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Doctoral degree from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)
  • Minimum of two years related clinical experience
  • Experience working in a Primary Health Care environment preferred; Bariatric, Endocrinology and diabetes experience would be considered an asset
  • Advanced psychotherapy skills
  • Competency in the use of psychological testing
  • Demonstrated experience conducting both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapy
  • Demonstrated experience in development of group psychotherapy programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
  • Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort in working flexibly and creatively to provide services
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

  • Permanent part-time (40%) position; 30 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives

$50.18- $62.73 Hourly
