About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Manager and Clinical Director, the Psychologist is a member of the interdisciplinary team providing services to adults and their families.
Mental Health and Addictions invites applications for a Psychologist to join the staff of Centre for Emotions and Health. The incumbent will collaborate with other members of the team while providing assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy of patients with somatic symptom disorders. The ability to conduct intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy assessment and treatment is required. The successful candidate will be required to participate in quality improvement initiatives including peer video supervision processes for ongoing clinical development.
About You
•Doctoral degree from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology
•Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)
•Minimum of two years related clinical experience
•Advanced psychotherapy skills and training in ISTDP
•Competency in the use of psychological testing in the area of adult mental health
•Demonstrated experience conducting both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapy
•Demonstrated experience in development of group psychotherapy programs
•Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
•Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family
•Excellent communication skills
•Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team setting
•Previous experience working in adult outpatient mental health preferred
•Demonstrated ability and comfort in working flexibly and creatively to provide services
•Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset
•Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
•Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Hours
- Permanent, Part Time (50%); 37.5 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives
$50.19 - $62.74 Hourly
Candidate Registered (step 3): $56.46 Hourly
Psychologist PhD (steps 4-5): $59.60 - $62.74 Hourly
Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
