About the Opportunity
Nova Scotia Health (NSH) provides sustainable safe and high quality health services that are accessible, people-centred, promote health and wellness, and optimize the health of all Nova Scotians. This is accomplished across four management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and community based programs and services, including mental health and addictions, primary health care, public health, and continuing care.
Reporting to the Manager, Project Management, the BIAM Project Manager has responsibility for managing day to day activities of assigned capital projects within the Zone (s) of Nova Scotia Health (NSH).
Responsible for the planning, coordination, and project management of assigned projects within NSH, participating and supporting functional design planning, specification writing, drawing review, cost estimation, and tender document coordination. This includes overseeing design consultants and contractors and interfacing with stakeholders and clinicians to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to project milestone dates and, most importantly, meeting the objectives of the project. The BIAM Project Manager may be required to act as interim Manager, Project Management to ensure continuity of service during annual leave.
The BIAM Project Manager has the following major accountabilities:
- Following all processes, policies and approaches for clinical and support leadership engagement and consultation throughout the planning, design, construction and commissioning stages of assigned capital projects.
- Ensuring that project documentation is completed from initiation to close out. This includes (but is not limited to) functional planning, project charters, budgets, cash flows, meeting minutes, contracts, change orders, contemplated change orders, change directives, substantial completion documents, inspections, holdback release, final payment, legal release of liability, and liens.
- Ensuring that all applicable CSA standards, and legislated requirements, are adhered to.
- Reviewing invoices and recommend for payment, forecasts, project cash flows, and milestone dates to ensure compliance with overall Capital Program budget allocations.
- Reviewing and preparing responses to requests for information (RFI) as well as developing and distributing supplemental instructions (SI).
- Monitoring consultants and contractor engagement to ensure projects adhere to NSH quality standards, budgets, and deadlines.
- Provide an on-site presence to those projects assigned to ensure all accountabilities are being met in the interest of NSH.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Registered Engineer (in N.S.) in a relevant Engineering discipline having 3-5 years project management experience ; or
- Project Manager with 5-7 years of experience in a Building Infrastructure or Health Care Environment.
- The Following would be considered an asset:
- Professional Engineer
- Project Management Professional Certificate
- Experience in building design, contract, construction and project management.
- Experience managing a wide range of complex projects and stakeholder teams, committees, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and consultation within a diverse range of stakeholder teams
- Budgeting and project estimating skills.
- Proven record of success working with staff, contractors, consultants, designers and clients.
- Proven ability to apply quality management principles and processes.
- Ability to apply risk assessment and management principles and processes.
- Strong communication, planning, presentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Significant experience in use of Microsoft Office.

- Full-Time, Long-Assignment / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
- Approximately 5 years starting February 2025-2030

Compensation and Benefits
$42.94 - $53.67 Hourly
