The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Nurse Practitioner Enhancement Strategies, Interprofessional Practice and Learning (IPP&L), the Professional Practice Leader (PPL) facilitates and advances excellence in quality person centred care and practice through the integration of a variety of services aimed at supporting and enhancing professional practice. The Professional Practice Leader takes a collaborative leadership role in fostering a culture of learning with a focus on clinical practice, clinical leadership, inter/intra professional collaboration and the development, implementation and maintenance of a model for inter/intra professional practice and standards consistent with health professional regulatory bodies and associations.

 

The Professional Practice Leader serves as a consultant to the organization with respect to professional practice issues at the individual, team, program and system level.  The Professional Practice Leader works with all members of the interprofessional team including physicians to promote evidence-based practice, reflecting best practices and a culture of person centred care.

This is a Provincial position and can be aligned with any of the provincial zones.  Travel is required across the zones.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner Stream (Primary Health Care/Family all ages) required. 
    • Consideration will be given to qualified candidates with a Nurse Practitioner diploma and a relevant Master degree or qualified candidates with a Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner Stream (Adult) who have previous experience working in the Primary Health Care system.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner License in good standing, or eligible for license, with Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) required
  • Current certification in BCLS required
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, plus previous management and/or demonstrated leadership experience required
  • Minimum three years of active Primary Health Care NP practice experience within the last five years, caring for family/all ages preferred 
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and strong understanding of the impact of social determinants of health on mental/physical health
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with others
  • Ability to manage conflict and foster conflict management strategies
  • Experience in initiating and managing projects
  • Demonstrated success in working with teams and team development
  • Demonstrated aptitude for progressive, creative, and innovative thinking
  • Demonstrated experience with designing, implementing and evaluating traditional and nontraditional education programming
  • Demonstrated success in leading change
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

Permanent, Full-Time (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation and Benefits

$51.14 hourly - $67.95 hourly
$99,720 - $132,498 annually
