About the Opportunity

Under the general supervision of the Health Services Managers and working under the direction of the sleep laboratory physicians, the Polysomnographic Technologist (PGS) provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.  This includes polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and patient care and education.  The Polysomnographic Technologist scores and analyzes collected data then prepare summarized reports for interpretation by the sleep laboratory physicians.  Must be able to troubleshoot equipment malfunction and software problems.  The PGS technologist is actively involved in the education of affiliate learners (i.e. medical students, residents, PhD. students, visiting physicians, home care employees and respiratory therapy students).  The PSG Technologist participates in a variety of ongoing research protocols.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Registered with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) obtaining the designation of RPSGT
  • One-year previous related experience preferred
  • Windows NT 
  • Must have current cardiopulmonary resuscitation BLS-C with annual certification
  • Proficient in all techniques required for Polysomnographic Testing
  • Knowledge regarding normal physiology, anatomy, and pathological states
  • Must be skilled in the analysis of recordings and in providing appropriate intervention (i.e. CPAP, oxygen and/or ventilator assistant devices)
  • Knowledge, skills and ability to make an independent decision regarding diagnosis/treatment
  • Must be able to recognize life-threatening conditions and take appropriate action
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long Assignment, Part-Time / 60 Hours Bi-weekly 
  • January 2025 to January 2026, approximately 12 months
  • Shiftwork / Call / Rotation / etc.

Compensation and Benefits

$32.55 - $39.63 Hourly
