About the Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services and in collaboration with the ED Clinical Coordinator, the Emergency Department Pharmacist Team Lead is accountable and responsible for ensuring safe and effective drug therapy for patients in the ED through the provision of evidence based direct patient care activities, providing education and mentorship, participation in clinical research and leading the implementation and evaluation of quality and patient safety initiatives designed to improve medication-use processes or pharmacy practice. Additionally, they will support the Emergency Department pharmacy staff, including coordinating and providing orientation and training, and actively precept pharmacy students, residents and interprofessional learners.
This role requires communication, liaison, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, most significantly the ED pharmacist team, the ED multidisciplinary leadership and care team and Pharmacy Department committees and leadership (e.g., policy office, order-set coordinator, Formulary Subcommittee, IV Therapy Manual Committee, Antidote Kit Committee, and Resuscitation Committee) to achieve the above responsibilities.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD degree
- Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists (NSCP)
- Completion of a PGY-1 Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency preferred
- Minimum two years' experience as a hospital pharmacist with ED experience, or completion of the following formal training; PGY-2 Hospital Pharmacy Residency or Master of Science in Pharmacy or Post Graduate Doctor of Pharmacy
- Informal or formal leadership experience
- Advanced therapeutic knowledge
- Experience with direct patient care in a clinical pharmacy practice setting
- Evidence of strong communication and collaboration experience
- Experience in clinical research, quality, and patient safety initiatives
- Experience in project management such as policy and order set development, and leading practice change through knowledge translation, medical writing, and formal presentations
- Experience as an educator, preceptor, and mentor
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits
$51.67 - $62.16 Hourly
