About the Opportunity

Recovery and Integration (R & I) is one of the services of the Mental Health and Addictions Program. Connections Halifax is a community based program, within the Recovery and Integration portfolio. The delivery of services/supports is guided by principles of Recovery - oriented approach, Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Community Development. 

Connections Halifax offers an integrated network of opportunities for people living with mental illness and experiencing significant functional challenges to participate and receive needed support for successful community living. Connections Halifax offers a range of clinical and rehabilitative opportunities including, but not limited to, community outreach/housing, employment, education, treatment, wellness & health promotion, and family support & education. These opportunities are designed to connect and/ or reconnect people to their communities and enhance their sense of pride, independence, accomplishment and self-worth

Under the direction of the Health Services Manager and the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT), the Occupational Therapy Assistant completes therapeutic and technical support duties in the delivery of occupational therapy services to Nova Scotia Health clients both independently and collaboratively with health care team members and students. The Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible to adhere to Nova Scotia Health Authority policies and procedures.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduated from a recognized community college occupational assistant program including 300 hours minimum of clinical experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • WHMIS 
  • Experience Providing employment support and knowledge about employment cooperatives would be an asset
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the uses and sources of commercially available assistive devices and equipment
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

Hours

  • Permanent Full-Time Position; 75 hours biweekly 

Compensation and Benefits

$24.11 - $27.40 Hourly
