About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Halifax Infirmary OR Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for daily operation of OR theaters, ensuring patients receive excellent care and their surgical journey is coordinated. He/she provides support and decision making to the departments as it relates to efficiency and utilization of resources and will ensure that all care areas are appropriately staffed on a day to day basis.

The Supervisor will address challenges to achieve the ultimate goal of high quality, safe, efficient and cost effective services to better support patient care. This individual also follows the principles of leading self, engaging others, achieving results, developing coalitions and system transformation 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree is required
  • Current registration with the College or Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (CRNNS)
  • Perioperative Nursing Program (PONP), or equivalent
  • Five years of experience working in a perioperative environment with at least two years in a leadership role
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to utilize health information systems for decision support is required
  • Experience with orthopedic, general surgery, vascular, plastic, cardiac and neuro surgery services is an asset
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and conflict management skills required
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities with the perioperative environment
  • Demonstrated competence in coaching and mentoring others in achieving optimal performance
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset
  • Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

Hours

  • Permanent Full-time / 75 Hours Bi-weekly 

Compensation and Benefits

$40.10 - $53.35 Hourly
