About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Service Delivery Support, the Continuing Care Manager of Policy and Planning is accountable to:

  • foster an environment of learning, respect and accountability through personal leadership, coaching and annual performance reviews with all direct reports resulting in a sustainable healthy workplace;  
  • lead the development of provincial priorities and operational plans to meet program goals and objectives, and financial targets of the Continuing Care program;
  • manage the establishment of consistent operational policies and procedures for continuing care in collaboration with the Senior Director and other Directors;
  • participate in the development of health authority standards and policies by representing the continuing care program at local and provincial levels and works in partnership with others;  
  • foster a collaborative approach to internal and external relationships with stakeholders, partners and service providers within the province to meet the continuing care health needs of Nova Scotians; and
  • accountable to manage within allocated budgets.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience or a Masters degree in a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent and related leadership/management experience in a healthcare field or related business environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in a healthcare environment and ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and clients
  • Progressive experience in management and administration in a health care/ community setting, including financial and human resource management
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders using a variety of methods
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated judgment, decisions making, and problem solving skills
  • Experience in system planning, policy development and program evaluation, data analysis, project management, and system performance management
  • Demonstrated planning, organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations including the NS Health Authorities Act, Homes for Special Care Act, Homemakers Services Act, etc.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies and standards including the DHW continuing care policies and standards, guidelines, etc.
  • Experience in managing in a unionized environment
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

  • Permanent Full Time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • This is a provincial position; location is flexible within the province

Compensation and Benefits

$43.79 - $54.74 hourly
