About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Director, Camp Hill Veterans Services, the Dental Hygienist will work in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Camp Hill Veterans services clinical team to support oral and dental health care for the Veterans and residents at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building (CHVMB).  The dental hygienist will lead the development and implementation of a clinical oral health care service at CHVMB that is based upon a cost recovery model.  The Dental Hygienist will actively and collaboratively participate in education, program development and evaluation initiatives as it relates to oral health care at CHVMB.  The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for scheduling; maintenance of the dental suite, equipment, and compliance with best practice standards; submitting predeterminations and billings for services rendered. The Dental Hygienist is also responsible for coordinating offsite dental care should the need arise.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Diploma in Dental Hygiene;
  • Must be a Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing and eligible for licensure in Nova Scotia with the College of Dental Hygienists of Nova Scotia;
  • A minimum of 3- 5 years previous clinical experience is required;
  • A Bachelor of Dental Hygiene degree is considered an asset; 
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Previous experience in independent dental hygiene practice is preferred;
  • Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of oral health-related programs, policies, services and initiatives;
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in working with older adults; training or education in Gerontology or experience working in long term care is considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with the interprofessional care team and a variety of internal and external partners;
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate the nuances of providing oral health care within a larger public system with often competing priorities, and for individuals who present with complex care needs;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and be self-directed, including the ability to set clear and realistic goals, establish timelines for deliverables and demonstrate accountability in meeting expectations;
  • Competencies in other languages an asset
