About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Analytics and through the Manager to the Director, Analytics, the Decision Support Analyst has the primary responsibility to Nova Scotia Health of supporting the mission, vision and strategic directions of the organization by assisting in the establishment and implementation of performance measurement tools that can be used throughout the organization. 

The Decision Support Analyst position supports and enhances the use of evidence-based decision making through the provision of information and analytics in tailored reports.  The Analyst liaises with key stakeholders to clarify data requests, performs extraction, management, synthesis, analysis of the data, and reporting of the data drawn from clinical information systems, administrative databases, and also other internal and external sources of data and information.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in health related field, informatics, mathematics / statistics, or business required (An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • 3 years relevant experience required
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in data extraction, data management, descriptive statistics and data analysis
  • Proficiency with micro-computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word).   
  • Comprehensive  knowledge of information management principles including information dissemination and exchange, data collection methodologies and data quality
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise with information systems, such as CIHI, Meditech, STAR, EDIS, etc.  
  • Experience working with and synthesizing large, complex  datasets and high volumes of information 
  • Broad knowledge of the Health Care system and the continuum of care, current health system issues, trends, policy and legislation
  • Ability to produce professional reports and presentation materials
  • Capable of identifying different ways of presenting data and selecting the method most appropriate based on the goals of the analysis
  • Possess critical thinking and problem solving abilities 
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships with all levels of administrative and clinical management
  • Ability to communicate with leaders, managers and teams regarding sensitive and confidential matters
  • Capable of working independently
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

Long assignment, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly
Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of April 1, 2025 (Approximately 12 months)

Compensation and Incentives

$31.39 - $39.23 Hourly
