About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Compensation, the Compensation Consultant is a member of the People Services Team. The Consultant is responsible for salary administration and evaluating new and existing classifications for unionized positions and supports the job development, reclassification and salary administration for management and non-union positions across the Nova Scotia Health Authority. In collaboration with the Manager Compensation, participates in labour relations strategies on union compensation, recruitment and retention, resource for collective bargaining, compensation grievances and works closely with union partners on salary and classification implementation.

 

The Consultant plays a key role in operational service delivery by ensuring compensation information, tools and up to date job descriptions required to provide responsive, accurate, and consistent services. Actively participates as a member of compensation related committees and working groups.

 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Graduate of post-secondary degree/program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or other relevant professional certification or designation preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years related compensation, evaluation and/or human resources experience within an unionized environment
  • Demonstrated up-to-date knowledge of labour trends and legislation
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation trends, issues, etc.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent consultative, influencing and mentoring skills
  • Effective work practice - accountable, dependable, flexible, persevering, sets goals and meets deadlines, results-oriented
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships
  • Knowledge of adult education and learning principles
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately a 12-month assignment 
  • Position location is flexible within the province

 

Compensation and Benefits

$40.15 - $50.19 Hourly
