About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Director & Victoria General site Lead, The Business Manager supports the Victoria General inpatient surgical units, Central Zone Palliative Care Program, and the site lead’s related business decisions for the portfolio. The Business Manager is integral to the successful operation of the Portfolio Leadership Team. The Business Manager is responsible for effectively managing business decisions to maximize the available budget and promote the efficient use of portfolio resources. Responsible for providing operational/financial expertise and analysis, the role ensures that the portfolio goals and objectives, and overall strategic priorities both in the Zone and across the province are achieved. Working closely with clinical and executive leadership teams to determine portfolio needs, the Business Manager is a subject matter expert to inform and advise Senior Leadership, and subsequently execute plans that support evidence-based decision making and person-centered care. In addition, this position is responsible for strategically analyzing current and expected trends, and to propose, plan and implement operational initiatives to meet desired outcomes. In the clinical setting, the Business Manager is responsible for financial and statistical analysis, revenue maximization, leading the procurement of capital and operational equipment and Contract development, business cases and operational plans, trend and efficiency analysis and outcome measurement for their portfolio. This work complements clinical operations and the direct provision of service for the portfolio.
The Business Manager responsibilities include education and mentorship of managers, physicians and other key stakeholders within the portfolio including, but not limited to developing, recommending and implementing strategies for cost management. The Business Manager actively participates in human resource planning, recruitment, staff scheduling guidelines, performance management and retention strategies of employees within the portfolio, and manages staff as assigned in a unionized environment.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate of a post-secondary degree/program in business, health administration as well as a professional designation (CPA or MBA) or an equivalent combination of training and demonstrated experience with an emphasis on financial management and business operations.
- Minimum of 5 years’ financial experience with managing and overseeing the budget and analysis activities of an organization.
- Strong knowledge of health care issues
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of Financial Accounting systems
- Ability to execute through effective delegation, motivation and oversight
- Experience in data analytics for decision support
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent verbal, written communication and influencing skills
- Clearly communicates the NSHA vision, mission and values
- Experience in working with patient care leaders
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent part-time position; 37.5 hours biweekly
Compensation and Benefits
$40.95 - $51.19 Hourly
