About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance & Operations Assistant Manager, the Maintenance Worker II performs a variety of semi-skilled, and unskilled tasks related to the upkeep of Nova Scotia Health properties (facilities & grounds) and related infrastructure, including but not limited to the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and service requirements of all grounds and facility related infrastructure and equipment, aiding other maintenance and operations trades and other related duties as required. The Maintenance Worker II assists with maintaining and following operational, equipment, tools, & safety codes, standards, and procedures.

The Maintenance Worker II is responsible for and/or assists with, but not limited to, the inspection, analysis, assessment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, general repairs, painting, fire and safety infrastructure systems. This position also maintains, interprets, and applies data from documentation such as blueprints, drawings, reports, specifications, and standards/codes as required, and maintains the work order system.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • A one (1) year program in a technical trade such as electrical, plumbing, industrial/mechanical, building systems tech, carpentry, and may also consider a 4th Class Power Engineer certificate.
  • 3 months of experience in at least two recognized trade lines, such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.
  • Able to Support maintenance at other sites as required.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Familiar with computers as well as work order system (Megamation).
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours

  • Permanent, full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$24.36 - $24.92 Hourly
