About the Opportunity
Are you interested in a career as a Anesthesia Technician (AT)? We are seeking individuals interested in receiving fully funded specialty training and a permanent position to work as AT's at Nova Scotia Health!
The Anesthesia Technician Program (ATP) offered through the Learning Institute at Nova Scotia Health equips AT's for practice by developing the knowledge, skills, and clinical competencies required to support the safe delivery of anesthesia care. This competency-based program provides a foundational understanding of the perioperative environment, anesthesia equipment and technology, and effective interprofessional collaboration. The program is designed to ensure learners are equipped to contribute to high-quality, safe, effective, and person-centered care.
This program is a full-time, 12 week program consisting of independent, online learning with in-person skills and simulation labs aimed at ensuring the learner achieves the knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet the program competencies. Following the 12 weeks, the learner is required to complete 900 clinical hours in an operating room in Nova Scotia.
Tentative start date for the program: April 7th, 2026
Locations available: Three (3) opportunities at QEII, two (2) opportunities available at Dartmouth General Hospital
While enrolled in the Anesthesia Technician Program, you will be hired and compensated as a Anesthesia Technician-in-Training. Upon successful completion of the program you will transition and be compensated as a Anesthesia Technician.
Successful applicants will agree to complete the program and continue working for a defined Return of Service (ROS) period of two (2) years after successful completion of the Anesthesia Technician program.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade 12
- Successful completion of a one year health related program, or two years post secondary education in a health related field
- Minimum one year experience working in a healthcare environment required, two years preferred
- BLS-C (HCP) certification required or willingness to obtain
- Previous perioperative and/or anesthesia experience is considered an asset
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with medical professionals
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations and provide continuous assistance during high-stress procedures
- Reliability, initiative, and the ability to work independently
- Competency in other languages is an asset; French preferred

Hours
- Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits
Anesthesia Technician:
$31.13 - $35.08 hourly
Anesthesia Technician-in-Training:
$24.08 - $28. 76 hourly
