About the Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to receive and register inpatients and outpatients in a professional, efficient and caring manner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.   This position also involves inputting Lab tests for patients arriving for Blood Collections.  Responsibilities include:

  • Admit, discharge and transfer patients
  • Register outpatients for clinics, Day Surgery, Emergency
  • Operate switchboard and direct calls as required to departments and patients
  • Maintains current knowledge of alarm procedures
  • Act as receptionist to the general public and other clients
  • Process laboratory test requests
  • Generate, distribute and maintain daily/monthly statistical reports
  • Accept financial payments, provide receipts, facilitate transport of receipts/payments to finance and maintain cash drawers
  • Incumbent will utilize NShIS and CRT
  • Other job related duties

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12
  • One year secretarial or business course
  • Medical Terminology Course
  • One (1) year experience in the clerical field
  • Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows
  • Must be bilingual in French and English Language
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills – a high degree of tact, judgement and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently, assess situations and seek resolution if possible, in accordance with District policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in an area with frequent interruptions
