About the Opportunity
The Clinical Therapist is a member of the Urgent Care Services, Mental Health & Addictions. Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Therapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the Urgent Care Services team but in addition to those duties, participates in quality initiatives in the program of care, engages in collaborative person centered care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice. The Clinical Therapist receives and provides supervision and mentorship as part of a community of practice. It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Master’s Degree in a health-related field such as Social Work or Psychology (Registered Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy is required.
- Registered (or eligible) for licensure with appropriate licensing body for the province of Nova Scotia
- Two (2) years' related experience required (including experience in conduction mental health and addictions assessments and providing evidence-based treatments such as CBT or DBT)
- Experience in case management of high risk clients
- Recent clinical experience demonstrating the competencies listed above (Preference will be given to applicants with experience in conducting crisis response/urgent care risk assessments and consultation services in emergency departments r in the community)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification
- Experience with or application of DSM
- Knowledge of legislation and responsibilities related to Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act (IPTA), Provincial Access Navigations Standards and Policies, Children & Family Services Act, Adult Protection Act and applicable NSH policy & standard
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

$37.12 - $48.80 hourly
