About the Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Spiritual & Religious Care services, the Summer Garden Student is responsible for the maintenance of the Garden of Peace at St. Martha's Regional Hospital. Specific duties include:
- Prepare garden and soil; includes composting and planting
- Maintenance of soil and plants i.e., watering and weeding garden
- General upkeep and maintenance of the garden i.e., keeping the area clean, and free from litter
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Must be returning as a full-time student during the next academic school year
- Must be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program
- Is between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and refugee Protection Act
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Preference will be given to applicants currently enrolled in a horticulture program
- Experience in gardening is an asset
- Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
- Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of NSH patients and clients
- Annually access training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSH
- The successful applicant will have a commitment to the mission and values of St. Martha's Regional Hospital and Nova Scotia Health
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits
$15.20 - $17.25 Hourly
