Reporting to the Manager, Laboratory Services, the Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) works in collaboration with all members of the Laboratory Services team to conduct medical laboratory tests, experiments and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.


The MLT ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.


  • Graduation from a School of Laboratory Technology and current registration in the Canadian Society of Laboratory Science and practising status with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologist            
  • Demonstrated good work and attendance record
  • Maintain a high interdepartmental relationship
  •  Deliver high quality patient care
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position
  • Travel throughout the zone may be required

Hours of Work

Permanent Full Time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends and holdiays

Salary Information

Medical Laboratory Technologist

$28.9131 - $35.2033 hourly
