About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is currently accepting applications for Physician Assistant in the Emergency Department at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. This position assists in transforming healthcare delivery and patient care throughout our province. Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the direction and supervision of the Physician to provide preventative and/or ongoing medical and clinical care management to patients. The PA role contributes to extending the services provided by the physician, through completing assessments and interventions along the spectrum of care provided to patients within their division/department under their supervisory agreement.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of or currently enrolled in an accredited recognized Physician Assistant program in Canada, United Kingdom, or United States
  • Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (CCPA), Royal College of Physicians, or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (PA-C)
  • Eligible for license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants
  • Medical Liability Insurance required
  • 3 years recent relevant experience in the Emergency Department
  • In the absence of candidates who meet the above qualifications, consideration may be given to candidates who do not have Emergency Department experience
  • Certifications or willingness to obtain, when needed: Basic Life Supports, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Pediatric Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support
  • Currency in medical readings and evidence-based guidelines
  • Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, patient assessment and telecommunications skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays

Compensation and Benefits

$55.62 - $63.28 hourly ($108,464 - $112,806 annually)

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
