About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Oncology Clinical Standards, the Provincial Manager, Quality, Cancer Care Program (CCP) provides leadership and management of staff and is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of services by facilitating the adoption of evidence-based practices supporting models of cancer care service delivery.  The incumbent ensures compliance of CCP quality management and safety programs with all relevant standards and accreditation requirements and is responsible for the alignment of provincial and zonal quality initiatives with the CCP strategic plan, direction and initiatives.

 

The Manager, Quality, is responsible for effective coordination with the Zone Quality Leads to enable and ensure the development and implementation of comprehensive quality, patient safety, engagement, patient relations, infection prevention and control and risk plans.  The Manager will provide quality expertise, education and leadership within Nova Scotia Health's provincial and zone responsibilities to leaders, staff, physicians and Quality Improvement and Safety teams/Councils in all aspects of quality improvement initiatives and patient safety development, implementation and evaluation.

 

The Manager will provide expertise in the development of effective care delivery models, which are responsive to current and future health human resources and/or health care trends.  The Manager ensures the completeness, timeliness, credibility and effectiveness of the provincial accreditation program and coordinate Zone Quality Leads to develop and implement a comprehensive accreditation plan to achieve the best outcomes in health care program and service delivery.

 

 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field which may include a health care discipline or business administration
  • Master's degree in a clinical health discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a leadership or management position
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in leading quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Certified Health Executive designation an asset
  • Demonstrated strength in planning and implementing a variety of strategic activities related to accreditation, safety, quality improvement for a clinical health related program with multiple partners and stakeholders.
  • Must have experience and demonstrated expertise in quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.
  • Must have experience engaging teams, leaders, medical staff, clinicians, patients/clients and stakeholders in a collaborative, participatory manner which supports the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the Cancer Care portfolio and the organization.
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in data management, data analysis and statistical manipulation; excellent report writing and presentation skills, presenting results in a meaningful manner specific to the target audience; application of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and graphics software required; and experience in project management and program evaluation an asset.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
